Simplifying Supply for a Regional Pub Group
The challenge
A growing regional pub group was purchasing cleaning chemicals, paper hygiene products and cleaning consumables from several different suppliers. Each venue had developed its own ordering habits, resulting in duplicated products, inconsistent pricing and different cleaning processes across the estate.
Managing multiple suppliers also created additional administration for the central team. Deliveries were arriving at different times, invoices came from several sources and managers had limited visibility of what each site was purchasing. The group wanted to reduce costs without lowering its cleaning or hygiene standards.
Our approach
Blue Shield Hygiene completed a review of the products being ordered across the group, including chemicals, toilet tissue, hand towels, centrefeed rolls, refuse sacks, cloths and other frequently used consumables.
We identified opportunities to consolidate similar products and introduced a standardised range for use across every location. Wherever possible, concentrated chemicals and controlled dosing were recommended to reduce product consumption, packaging waste and the cost per usable litre.
We also simplified the ordering process, allowing each pub to purchase its core cleaning and hygiene products through one dependable supply partner.
The result
The group reduced the number of suppliers and individual SKUs it needed to manage, delivering savings across both product costs and administration. Standardising the range also made stock control easier and reduced the risk of sites ordering unsuitable or unnecessarily expensive alternatives.
Teams across the estate now use familiar products and cleaning processes. This makes staff training more consistent and allows employees providing cover at another venue to work effectively with little additional instruction.
Blue Shield Hygiene continues to support the group with account management, product reviews and recommendations for further cost and sustainability improvements.
